| 父親はイギリス出身。 1846年、パリのエコール・デ・ボザールに入学。 1850年、ローマ賞を受賞し、イタリアに留学。 1854年、パリ万博で大成功する。「殉教の勝利」 以後、サント・クロティルド聖堂（パリ）、ボルドーの大劇場、ラ・ロッシュの大聖堂などの装飾に携わる。 1888年、エコール・デ・ボザールで教授をし、多くの生徒を育てている。 |
